Safety Equipment

Wet blasting is recognised as a system of blasting which produces minimum amounts of aggravating material in the work area and to the operator. However, Blastgreen recommends a minimum requirement of ear and eye protection together with whatever other PPE is normally called for in the work area. Blastgreen is pleased to supply a range of products including hard hats, safety goggles and face masks.

Blastgreen Media

There are a number of different media being used for surface cleaning. At Blastgreen we recommend Olivine for its purity, eco-friendliness and work rate.

Other media can be used in our machines including garnet, copper slag, glass beads, chilled iron and vegetable abrasives, more detailed information is available on request.

Olivine is a natural mineral abrasive which contains no free silica, ideally suited to the cleaning of many different substrates. There are four main grades to suit most applications ranging from providing architectural finishes to concrete, to the restoration of the finest stonework and sculptures.

There are four grades of Olivine:

Extra Fine AFS 120

Suitable for delicate jobs, such as furniture, soft masonry (bricks, limestone), soft woods (pine, larch etc), and aluminum.

Fine AFS 80

Suitable for marine anti-foul removal, masonry renovation (hard bricks, concrete etc) and hard woods (green oak, mahogany etc).

Standard AFS 50

This is the media most frequently used by our operators and is ideal for removal where many layers are present e.g. graffiti, chewing gum and multi-layer anti-foul.

Coarse AFS 30

The removal of road markings and the most persistent of coatings, leaving a keyed surface. Suitable for use on surfaces to be re-coated and/or requiring an excellent key.
